Hay River Review Advertising Sales Representative
The Hay River Publishing Cooperative is seeking an energetic, persuasive sales person to drive growth for new and existing accounts for our monthly newspaper through prospecting, developing, and closing leads exploring a variety of avenues. This position works closely with potential clients to sell print and digital ads for the Hay River Review. The sales representative also ensures existing clients remain satisfied with advertising products and services. Ad sales include one-time and contracted ads and are published in print and digital (on our website and social media).

This remote, part-time, commission-based position has a minimum monthly salary. Hours average 25 to 30 hours per month; may require more during high advertising months. You work at your own pace and set your own hours, so long as you meet deadlines.

Advertising Sales Representative Responsibilities

Demonstrate effective communication skills and build rapport with clients.

Achieve excellent customer service and continually meet or exceed expectations.

Build and sustain long-lasting relationships with existing and potential clients.

Meet with potential clients to identify their advertising needs and formulate various options.

Provide clients with cost estimates of products or services required for print and digital advertising.

Persuade clients to purchase Hay River Review advertising products and services by communicating the benefits of various types of advertising, including print and digital media.

Work closely and collaboratively with the HRR Ad Designer, Editor, and Business Office personnel.

The week we go to press, the ad sales person is responsible for reviewing proofs and accommodating last minute changes.

Attend Board meetings (one Monday/month) and Staff meetings (second Wednesday of the month) via Zoom.

Advertising Sales Representative Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

A bachelor’s or associate degree in advertising, communications, or related field is preferred but not required.

Proven experience working as an advertising sales representative.

Highly motivated, self-starting individual with initiative and drive to succeed.

Proficient in: Google Workspace, Facebook, and Instagram. Wix experience is a plus.

Strong understanding of the digital advertising landscape.

Sound knowledge of marketing principles and techniques.

Excellent organizational, analytical, negotiation, consultative sales, communication, networking, customer service, and community involvement skills.

The ability to build rapport with customers and suppliers.
