Interested in learning more about lake ecology and the connections between people and the flora and fauna that share our shores? The annual Northwest Wisconsin Lakes Conference offers information about current issues, lake science, and brings together people interested in promoting lake, river and watershed health. This day-long educational forum offers a variety of perspectives on Northwoods waters.
Kicking off the conference, local favorite author and naturalist Emily Stone, Education Director at the Cable Natural History Museum, shares her perspectives on our waters and the land. Her keynote will transport the audience through glittering ice and shimmering waves flowing with life, painting a picture of the natural connections we celebrate in the Northwoods.
This year’s conference offers inspiration, information, and networking opportunities. The day’s sessions offer a variety of topics and expert speakers. In addition, participants can network with attendees or visit with exhibitors to learn from their success stories. The conference includes a light continental breakfast at registration, lunch, and a chance to get to know the diverse community of people who are passionate about our waters.
The event will be held at Hayward High School on June 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. It is sponsored by a wide variety of partners including local lake associations, natural resource agencies, Land and Water Conservation Departments, and the University of Wisconsin Extension.
Register by Friday, June 13 to tap into the latest research, prevent invasive species, and learn how to protect your favorite lake or stream. The cost is $45 (including snacks and lunch) with a reduced $10 registration for students.
