Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts of America) is thriving in the Blue Hills District, which encompasses Sawyer, Rusk, Washburn, and Barron counties. The organization offers programs for boys and girls in grades K-5 (Cub Scouts) and grades 6-12 (Troops). The district is working hard to reestablish a Cub Scout Pack in the Dallas, Prairie Farm, and Ridgeland areas, providing a vast landscape of experiences and knowledge to improve the youth of our community.
Cub Scouts are at a magical age where everything is new, possible, and—most importantly—fun. They build things, play purposefully, make friends, and learn to work together. The life lessons gained through Scouting help form a foundation for embracing opportunities and overcoming obstacles. This year-round program is specifically designed to meet the needs of young boys and girls, as well as their families. The program offers engaging, challenging activities that foster character development and promote physical fitness.
Family involvement is essential, and parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child's education. We encourage any adult—parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other relatives of youth—to volunteer for leadership positions in Cub Scout Packs, Troops, or at the District level. There are many ways to make a difference in a child’s life, and volunteering is also a great way to give back to the community by serving our youth. You don't have to be related to a youth in the program to get involved, so please don't hesitate to ask questions.
Families can get involved by calling or texting Mr. Pat Jarvis, Blue Hills District Executive, at (571) 241-9260 or emailing patrick.jarvis@scouting.org.
Financial assistance is available to help families in need participate in the program.
