Deer Donation Event Connects Hunters and Families in Need

Health Dunn Right is hosting a community Deer Donation Event in Menomonie on Monday, Nov. 23.
The event will connect hunters who wish to donate unprocessed, legally harvested deer with individuals who then receive a deer free of charge.
“This event provides an opportunity for hunters to make a direct impact by helping supply nutritious, locally sourced protein to families in need while supporting responsible wildlife management efforts,” said Public Health Educator Kate Koser.
Any unclaimed or additional deer donated through the event will be processed and distributed through Stepping Stones of Dunn County's food pantry. Stepping Stones has a food pantry in Menomonie, and offers monthly pop-up pantries throughout Dunn County, including Ridgeland and Sand Creek.
The Deer Donation Event is made possible with the help of local businesses. Conagra Brands (Swiss Miss) donated hot cocoa to help keep participants warm during the event, and Badger Truck Refrigeration, Inc. donated refrigeration equipment to support the safe storage and handling of donated venison.
“These contributions help make the Deer Donation Event possible and demonstrate the strong community partnerships that support local hunger-relief efforts throughout Dunn County,” Health Dunn Right stated in a press release.
Contact Public Health Educator Kate Koser with any questions, kkoser@dunncountywi.gov

To plan for the event, both hunters who wish to donate deer and individuals who wish to receive a deer are asked to complete this Deer Donation Online Interest Form.
